Discount Window Treatments

Walk though any home, and notice what first catches the eye; the curtains and drapes. Everyone has their own unique style, but do not want to spend a small fortune doing so, especially when so many are living on a budget. The good news is, discount window treatments are available. The imagination is unlimited when choosing from so many creative ideas available on the Internet.

A scarf design for example, costs less than one might imagine. Scarves dress up a window with a sheer, silky, expensive appearance, yet cost less than a fraction of calling in a decorator to hang them. Experts call scarf drapery sheer swags, because of the way they loop under and over loops inserted above the window. This project is really simple to do. All one needs is to purchase discount sheer, printed or solid color material in amounts needed for the window size, and wooden, or plastic, round curtain rings. After affixing the curtain rings to the window, simply pull the material through them, adjusting them here and there until they are as desired. Stand back, look at how they will appear and adjust as necessary.

To finish or complement the look of swags, simply place colored or white blinds behind them. Blinds may be opened or raised during the day to filter in sunlight, and closed during the evening hours. No matter whether they are open or closed, the window will have a classy, elegant look, and nobody will know it cost so little. If drapes are desired, eliminate the blinds and place sheer or heavier curtains behind using a curtain rod. This is a beautiful presentation similar to the curtains in a theater. The drapes may be drawn during the day showing off the swags, then closed at night for privacy.

Shower curtains are nothing like the plain plastic ones they used to be. They now come in washable cloth designs, and the great thing is, they can be reused as curtains or drapes. Here is how to do it. Fold the shower curtain lengthwise, then cut at the fold. Hem the cut edges, then simply slip shower curtain rings in a matching color, onto a curtain rod, attach the shower curtain and instantly magnificent looking drapes appear, and all for a fraction of the cost.
